Privacy
Draft, last updated 19 October 2026. To be reviewed before public launch.
Generators
All name generation runs in your browser. The real name you type into the artist-name tools is used only on your device to build names; it is not sent to us, stored, or included in share links.
Your shortlist and votes
Saved names, notes and votes are kept in your browser's local storage. They never reach a Bandmark server. Clearing your browser data deletes them. Shortlist and vote links carry the names inside the link itself, so anyone you send one to can read them.
The name checker
When you check a name, your browser sends that name directly to these services, each under its own privacy policy: MusicBrainz (MetaBrainz Foundation), Apple's iTunes Search API, Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation), and domain registration data services (Verisign RDAP and rdap.org, which forwards to the relevant registry). Links to other sites (Spotify, social networks, trademark offices) only open when you click them.
Analytics, cookies and ads
Optional Google Analytics measures visits only after you choose “Allow analytics”. It is off until then. We disable advertising signals and automatic page views, and send only the page path without query parameters or fragments. Generated names, checker inputs, shortlist contents and votes are not sent to Analytics. Google may use cookies after you opt in. You can change your choice with “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of any page; withdrawing consent stops future collection and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies on this domain. No advertising scripts are installed.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests and may keep request logs for security and reliability.
