What makes a good DJ name
- Ownable: one invented or unusual word is far easier to find on Beatport, SoundCloud and Spotify than "DJ" plus a common word.
- Sayable in a loud room: two or three syllables, no spelling traps.
- Visual: it should look good in a flyer lineup and as a logo on a booth banner.
- Built from you: many well-known aliases come from the artist's real name, shortened, blended or extended.
Blends and invented names
A blend takes the first letters of your first and last name ("Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll" became Kygo). Invented names come with a respelling such as "VEH-loh-rah" so promoters say it right the first time.

How do I make a DJ name from my name?
Type your full name. You'll get blends of your first and last name, your initials with a word, your name extended with an electronic-sounding ending, and your first name reversed when it is pronounceable.
Should my DJ name include "DJ"?
It makes it clear what you do but adds crowding: "DJ ___" is common. Many producers drop it once they release original music.
